Oldest parish church in Delft, founded around 1200. The oldest parts date from the 14th century. The around 75-meter high tower dates from 1325-1350. The last additions at the side of the Oudekerkstraat date from 1510-1536. Stone clad facades done in Brabant Gothic, designed by Antonis Keldermans. The pulpit (1548) is decorated with unique carvings in Renaissance style. Tombs of naval heroes Piet Hein and Maarten Tromp and painter Johannes Vermeer. Unique collection of 27 stained glass windows by Joep Nicolas (20th century). Until the Reformation the church was dedicated to Saint Hippolytus.
