Mayor's daughter and widow Elisabeth Pauw, who remained childless,  founded this almshouse intended for weak and needy women (1707). Elisabeth survived two spouses, both mayor, Johan and Dirck van der Dussen. The latter is mentioned as co-founder in the gable stone above the entrance. The gatehouse is located at Paardenmarkt, with the former regents’ room above the passage.
In the inner area there are three blocks with a total of eight houses, situated around a courtyard garden. The garden was replanted in 2007.
Nowadays, the houses are inhabited by people who are mentally challenged.
