The Watertoren, was built in 1895 to provide the city with drinking water. The tower, designed by  city architect Martinus Hartman, is a traditional brick construction; the water reservoir is made of iron. It is built in neo-renaissance style and it has a railing with crenels.
In 2007 the tower went through an interior renovation. The current owner wants to make the tower accessible to the public. In the reservoir house and the water basement a centre for art, nature and ecology will be built.
