In celebration of Open Monument Day, parts of this historic building will be open to the public free of charge. In addition to the impressive monumental staircase, this year a hidden gem will also take center stage: the charming inner garden, richly decorated with architectural ceramics. Visitors can explore this unique space with the help of a map and additional information. For children, there will be a garden treasure hunt.

In 1907, production of Delftware pottery was moved from the inner city to its current location. The company headquarters, characterised by a sleek, rigid and cubist design with highly expressive details, were built in 1930 after a design by Anton van der Lee. In and around the courtyard, there is an extraordinary collection of building ceramics on show. The factory produced building ceramics for many a monument, a.o. the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam and the Peace Palace in The Hague.
